The Wire, is my second favorite TV show....rights after Greys Anatomy. It's a gritty crime show based in inner city Baltimore, that comes on HBO on Sunday nights.
Since its beginnings, the show has drawn me in with its realism. yes, its yet ANOTHER show that portrays african-americans in a negative light but.....it also shows the corruption of city hall and the police departments that I'm sure goes on in every major city.
This season, its 3rd, the show is still about dealers, politicians and the police but its focusing on the kids. the kids from inner city streets filled with drugs, death, a frustrated police force and a failing school system. we see their struggle to survive in a system that is more likely to swallow them up before they turn 18. if you don't believe that we are losing a generation of african-american youth, watch the show. you will see scenes from Baltimore but could be your city.
After watching the show, you should come away angry...angry at a system that really isn't helping these kids. and angry, at the kids for not caring more about their education. there will still be room enough to be mad at the politicians, police and uncaring parents.
Watch the show and learn. see, what's going on TODAY in the neighborhoods we left YESTERDAY and hope we can give them a TOMORROW.

been watching it from day one.. couldn't agree more. we dvr it.. and i watch each episode twice a week to catch things i missed the first time. i was in baltimore when they were filming this season. what do you think of survivor?
Agree, agree, agree! The Wire is one of the realist shows ever.
