2008...the halfway point.

2008...it was to have been
2008, was suppose to be MY year. i was to take this art of spoken word/poetry to another level.....i was suppose to: write more, make a cd and travel. i always tell people 'poetry is my job. the 9-5, is my hustle.'....in other words, i was suppose to be on the poetic grind.

i knew the year was doomed when the 'ex', broke up with me on New Years Eve. to say i was shocked, would be an understatement.....maybe if i would have seen it coming, i wouldnt have been so upset. the day before, we were all laughs and giggles...and then BOOM! i have danced this dance with her before but THIS time, it was way different (thats for another blog). i hope that she finds happiness. as for me, im tired of dancing, im just going to sit and listen to the music for a while.

then, i get a promotion at the job....well, before i get the promotion, i feel as if im in training. im working my ass off sometimes doing ten hours a day, when my manager isnt there (gotta have a strong second, that was me)...now that i actually HAVE the promotion, im REALLY doing ten hours a day (without a strong second). we HAVE to work weekends, which is when i would normally travel to venues. which means no roadtrips for me.....oh yea, before someone mentions 'mo money', NOT. between child support and insurance....its gone! i so love my daughter though.

i did have the chance to feature in Knoxville....what happens? i get into a car accident the day before im suppose to leave....i was really looking forward to doing this feature. it's the venue of members of the Southern Fried family.....it was going to be my chance to shine away from SF. sigh, maybe they will allow me to make it up to them.

then, i suppose to attend Spitfest in Texas....but money issues prevented THAT trip. i was REALLY looking forward to going back to Texas to see my poetic family down there, i miss them folks. maybe Love with have another one later in the year i can attend. There is one this month but thats a no go.

im trying to keep my head up because this is the halfway point of the year. there have been some good things this year: 1. my birthday was pretty cool (nothing like last year though) 2. have been able to attend some great concerts (Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, The Roots and N.E.R.D.). 3. attended Southern Fried, which was off the CHAIN! 4. did a feature in Mobile with the Little Rock Slam team.

everything happens for a reason (im patiently waiting for them to be revealed to me) so, im thinking positive and looking forward to the future...i know a change is coming!

keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Sweetie--didnt know you had so much going on. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. There are reasons, the waiting for why can be killer...but the lessons are the point...
