peace and blessings,
i missed posting about friday's bouts because i woke up late. so, we arent going to worry about friday's results, we are just gonna move on to finals. final night was the flippin BOMB! to me, it was better than finals night at Nationals! watching the Indivduals flying solo with such passion...WOW. it was worth the bus ride it took to get there. these were the finalist (in no certain order):
Rachel McGibbons
Versiz
Jared Paul
Stephanie Williams
Mike McGee
Andrea Gibson
Sonya Renee
Basic Knowledge
Joaquin Zihuatanejo
Q
Da Minista
Krissi Reeves
after the first round, it came down to:
Jared Paul
Mike McGee
Andrea Gibson
Joaquin Zihuatanejo
Sonya Renee
Da Minista
Versiz
after the second round, it was down to:
Jared Paul
Mike McGee
Andrea Gibson
Joaquin Zihuatanejo
and then there was ONE
Mighty Mike McGee....the 2006 iWPS champion.
Mike beat out Joaquin only because Joaquin had a time penalty.
The host city Charlotte did a great job staging the event. all the bouts, where in ONE venue just different rooms! the crowd for the finals was filled with a lot of NON-poets/volunteers. the funniest thing was watching the crowds reactions to the actions of the poets not on stage to; the poets, the pieces performed and the scores
given. i think we might have scared some people...lol.
it was a great time. i cant wait for NPS2006

iWPS
peace and blessing,
well, a brother arrived in Charlotte safe and sound. I the ride was kewl and I have nothing bad to say about 'greyhound'...for now (please keep in mind, I still have to ride it back home).
I'm in Charlotte for iWPS to see, hear, be inspired and learn from some of the hottest poets from around the world (yes, there are poets here from different countries) battle it out for bragging rights, money and a place in history. seen a lot of faces from Nationals (rock baby) and a couple that I heard of but hadnt seen (twain).
everything starts today but...last night, there was a wild card slam to see who would fill the LAST slot for iWPS and that honor goes to......Q, from right churr in Charlotte. he beat out ten other poets for the finally spot.
registration opens at 10am today (yesterday was early registration) and the competition begins tonight. I can't wait, its gonna be hot!! I got some money set aside for at least two cd's and one shirt...thats it!
I think..
